PlayStation's 6 August anniversary announcement confirms that Quake: Dawn of the Machine is a free update for Quake owners on PS5 and PS4. The new episode contains a 19-map campaign, an original soundtrack and a Deathmatch map.
Malaysian players who do not own the base game can buy Quake for RM39.73 on the Malaysia PlayStation Store. Existing owners do not need to buy the episode separately.

The story traps Ranger in an illusory dimension where time loops. Players must find a path through the cycle, improve their supplies and eventually confront the Nightmare Machine that holds the prison together.
The connected structure required the developers to coordinate progression across all 19 maps. That makes it more important to search for upgrades and manage ammunition than in episodes where a hub restart wipes the previous area's state.
New combat tools and encounter ideas
The Laser Cannon fires shots that ricochet, creating angles that the original weapons do not cover. The Super Axe adds lightning to close-range attacks, while the Rocket Ogre, Demo Dog and Blood Shambler change familiar enemy roles.
MachineGames describes the episode as a smaller collaborative project that let developers work outside their usual specialities. That approach produced the new soundtrack and levels while keeping the visual language close to classic Quake.
