The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta on PS5 is free to download in Malaysia. Weekend Two runs from 1:00am MYT on 29 August to 1:00am MYT on 2 September 2026, and the official PlayStation Blog says no pre-order or Beta Code is required for this open period.
The official beta overview confirms that Weekend One installation and progression carry into Weekend Two. The Malaysia PlayStation Store beta page lists the PS5 download as free.
Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta times in Malaysia
PlayStation gives the Weekend Two window as 28 August at 10:00am PT through 1 September at 10:00am PT. In Malaysia, that converts to:
- Starts: 29 August 2026 at 1:00am MYT
- Ends: 2 September 2026 at 1:00am MYT
- Access: open to everyone on PS5; no pre-order or Beta Code required
- Carry-over: the Weekend One install and progression continue into Weekend Two
The first weekend ended at 1:00am MYT on 26 August. That earlier access required a pre-order or redeemed Beta Code, but it is not a requirement for the open weekend.
What is playable in the PS5 beta?
The beta includes 22 weapons across Multiplayer progression, default loadouts and Campaign. Supported weapons can be fully levelled to unlock Apex Attachments, while the Mobility Course provides guided movement, weapon-handling and marksmanship practice.
Movement remains boots-on-the-ground, with new options for climbing and descending pipes, repositioning while hanging from ledges, and aiming or firing while suspended.
Maps, modes and the new Kill Block
Six Core 6v6 maps are scheduled across the beta: Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, Lotus and Lithium. The classic playlist includes Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed and Search and Destroy.
Two new modes join that rotation. Inflation turns eliminations into cash bounties, with part of a player's collected cash left behind when eliminated. Hijack centres on carrying, throwing and passing a Data Spike before planting it at the opposing Comm Station.
Kill Block is a modular live-fire space whose routes, sightlines, weather and combat areas reconfigure between rounds. PlayStation says its three connected Slabs create more than 500 possible combinations. It supports 3v3 Gunfight and a larger 10v10 version.
Ground War: Combat Outpost expands the scale to 24v24 vehicle and infantry combat across Imjin Farmland and Wolves Stadium. Teams establish Outposts, earn resources and complete further objectives while dealing with airborne Killstreaks.
Campaign mission and Weekend Two Warzone content
The beta includes Entrenched, a Campaign mission built around a large-scale assault to stop a strategically important nuclear power station from falling to enemy forces.
Weekend Two also adds Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence on Zodiac. The map is set around a drone assembly and manufacturing headquarters, with offices, rooftops, tunnels and shoreline routes. Contracts can reduce redeployment timers while squads fight to be the last remaining team.
Which beta rewards carry into launch?
There are eight beta rewards earned through progression to Level 30. PlayStation says rewards earned during the beta carry into Modern Warfare 4 at launch. Named examples include the Dread Tiger Operator Skin for Reece and the Level 30 Beta Forged Weapon Blueprint for the Han 86 Assault Rifle.
Beta progression carrying from Weekend One into Weekend Two is separate from the launch reward carry-over. The source only promises that the eight earned beta rewards transfer to the launch game; it does not say that general beta weapon levels or all account progression will transfer.
Do you need to buy anything for the open beta?
No. The Open Beta download is free, and the open weekend does not require a pre-order or Beta Code. Online play requires internet access, and the Malaysia Store page says an Activision account and a mobile phone number linked to that account may be required.
A PlayStation wallet purchase is only relevant if you independently decide to buy the full game or another paid item for a Malaysia PSN account. PlayStation's Malaysia voucher guidance says the voucher region must match the account region and that an account's selected region cannot be changed.
After checking that the PSN account is set to Malaysia and confirming the paid item on the Malaysia Store listing, you can buy a PlayStation Network Card for that verified Malaysia account. Do not buy wallet value just to access the free beta.
