LoL Patch 26.16: Support Roaming, ADC and Item Changes

League of Legends Patch 26.16 makes early support roaming more expensive, gives marksmen more early Magic Resistance against mage lanes, improves jungle-pet scaling for AP and tank builds, and reshapes several fighter items. Riot published the official Patch 26.16 notes at 2am Malaysia time on 12 August 2026.

The patch also buffs Azir, Gwen and Kennen, reduces Bel’Veth’s late scaling, changes Camille, Nasus and Poppy, and introduces Akali, Kennen and Shen to League Classic. The balance update is free and does not require Riot Points.

Riot’s overview separates direct buffs and nerfs from role and system adjustments.

Early support roaming now costs more

The Support Role Quest no longer rewards champion or turret damage more than last-hitting. Stack consumption becomes 18 for the first tier and 21 for the second tier in both cases. More importantly, the XP and gold penalty for taking minions outside bot lane increases from 25% to 33% and now lasts until level 5 instead of level 3.

This does not remove roaming. It raises the opportunity cost of abandoning bot lane before the support has developed levels and quest progress. A short move for vision, a river fight or a high-confidence gank can still be useful; repeated early lane absence is simply less efficient by default.

Camille’s changes target the same pattern. Her early passive shield falls from 20% maximum Health to 10%, while its later values scale to 15%, 20% and 25%. Lower cooldowns on the passive and Tactical Sweep, plus stronger outer-cone damage, give top-lane Camille more repeatable trading without preserving the same level-one support all-in.

ADC Magic Resistance changes the mage matchup

Akshan, Aphelios, Ashe, Caitlyn, Corki, Draven, Ezreal, Graves, Jhin, Jinx, Kai’Sa, Kalista, Kindred, Kog’Maw, Lucian, Miss Fortune, Quinn, Samira, Senna, Sivir, Smolder, Twitch, Varus, Vayne, Xayah, Yunara and Zeri move from 30 base Magic Resistance plus 1.3 per level to 33 plus 1.1 per level. Tristana receives the same 33 plus 1.1 curve from a lower starting point.

The immediate result is three more base Magic Resistance for most of the group, with slightly less growth later. That is an early-lane durability adjustment, not blanket immunity to mage damage. Positioning, support pairing, item timing and level still decide the matchup.

Champion buffs, nerfs and role shifts

  • Azir: Conquering Sands gains 15 base damage at every rank.
  • Gwen: healing from A Thousand Cuts against champions rises from 50% to 67% of post-mitigation damage, with a higher cap and AP ratio.
  • Kennen: Slicing Maelstrom grants more bonus resistances and gains higher damage at later ranks and a stronger AP ratio.
  • Bel’Veth: Health growth falls from 110 to 105, while True Form Attack Speed shifts from 5/15/25% to 6/13/20%.
  • Nasus: Siphoning Strike grants four normal stacks instead of three, but large targets fall from 12 stacks to 10, favouring steady lane farming over jungle spikes.
  • Poppy: loses early Attack Damage and some bonus-AD damage, while gaining Mana, regeneration, resist scaling and bonus-Health scaling on her slow.

These values describe Riot’s live patch direction; they do not prove a new tier order. Pick rates, matchups and later hotfixes can change the strongest choice.

Fighter items, runes and jungle pets need a rebuild check

Black Cleaver gains five Attack Damage and restores a melee/ranged split to its movement speed. Eclipse deals more target-maximum-Health damage but has a slightly smaller shield. Runaan’s Hurricane gains movement speed and stronger Wind’s Fury bolts, while Sterak’s Gage and Tiamat gain more damage.

Sundered Sky is cheaper to combine and gains 50 Health, but its trigger healing falls from 100%/50% to 90%/45% of base Attack Damage for melee/ranged users, and its missing-Health component drops from 6% to 4%. Sunfire Cape costs 100 gold more, shifts damage towards champions and loses some minion and monster efficiency. Berserker’s Greaves, Fleet Footwork and Spellslinger’s Shoes improve, while Chainlaced Crushers and early melee Hail of Blades become weaker.

Jungle pets keep their base damage and bonus-AD ratio, but their AP ratio rises from 12% to 16%. Bonus Armor and Magic Resistance ratios increase from 20% to 25%, and the bonus-Health ratio rises from 3% to 4%. That opens a clearer efficiency case for AP and tank junglers without guaranteeing that every such pick clears fastest.

League Classic adds three ninjas

Akali, Kennen and Shen join League Classic in their older forms. The same Classic update also adjusts Alistar, Amumu, Blitzcrank, Dr. Mundo, Garen, Heimerdinger, Janna, Jarvan IV, Katarina, Lux, Miss Fortune and several other champions, plus older items and runes.

Do not apply those Classic numbers to modern Summoner’s Rift. Patch 26.16 carries both rule sets in one announcement, but each mode keeps its own champion kits, items and tuning.
