Free Fire’s OB55 patch, dated 10 September 2026, brings back the Nine Tails in Battle Royale and introduces Prime Diamonds. The Nine Tails changes what can happen during a match. Prime Diamonds follow a separate monthly spending and top-up cycle; buying Diamonds is not required to play the collaboration content.
The two changes serve different decisions. Here is what Garena confirms, and what to check before spending on a MY/SG Free Fire account.
What the Nine Tails changes in Battle Royale
According to Garena’s OB55 patch notes, one of three Nine Tails events may occur before a match: it can strike the plane and force everyone to eject after a countdown, open Bermuda Arsenals without a key, or leave a loot-filled crater on Bermuda. These are possible match events, not guaranteed outcomes.
Midmatch, players can capture Sharingan: Control and aim a Tailed Beast Bomb. The target area receives a five-second warning. The blast deals 60 explosive damage within 100 metres, then creates eight to ten flame spots. Each spot has a four-metre radius, lasts five to ten seconds and deals five damage every half second inside it. Leaving a flame spot still causes one damage per second for two seconds. Positioning and the warning matter more than any purchase here.
Plan Diamond spending in the earning month
Garena says spending ordinary Diamonds during a month earns Prime Diamonds for the following month. The patch does not state a public earning rate, so do not assume a fixed return or spend more just to chase an unconfirmed amount. Check the amount shown in your account before making a purchase.
If you were already planning a Diamond-priced Luck Royale draw or Booyah Pass purchase this month, you can buy Free Fire (MY/SG) Diamonds for that planned spend. This provides spendable Diamonds for a choice you intended to make; it does not unlock the next month’s Prime Diamonds early. Use this MY/SG option only for a matching account and verify the receiving numeric Player ID.
Unlock and use Prime Diamonds the following month
Prime Diamonds earned from one month’s Diamond spending can be claimed in the next month only after a top-up of any amount during that next month. Garena says that top-up unlocks all earned Prime Diamonds. They can be used in Luck Royale and Booyah Pass, and expire at the end of the claim month. The patch does not promise an extension or a cash equivalent.
Once the next month arrives, check the earned balance, available uses and expiry in Free Fire before paying. If the balance is useful to you, top up Free Fire (MY/SG) Diamonds to unlock your earned Prime Diamonds. Confirm the MY/SG account, numeric Player ID, selected pack and checkout total first. A purchase is optional if the reward is not worth another top-up to you.
What to check before the month ends
- Check the Prime Diamond balance and claim-month expiry displayed in your Free Fire account; the patch gives the monthly rule but no universal earning formula.
- Choose an eligible Luck Royale or Booyah Pass use before the claim month ends. Do not assume Prime Diamonds work for every shop item.
- Keep the Nine Tails gameplay separate from the Prime Diamond decision: its match mechanics do not require a Diamond purchase.
